For many of us, we discover our capacity, and choose our availability during our schooling years. It is a period of tremendous growth. It is a time where we want to be more than we already are, to achieve more than what we already have.
This leads us on a pursuit; of what, however, really depends on the condition of our hearts. The fact remains that at this point, we’re all chasing something. What was most chastening when I thought of my own journey in University, was when I asked myself: where was God in my pursuit for my identity, my worth, and my destiny? Was He what I pursued?
So in the first year of university, I pursued my grades, school activities, new friendships, and ultimately – I created for myself a place where I felt I could belong and felt accomplished in. Basically, God took a backseat in the pursuit of my desires and my goals.
I didn’t need God since I was self-sufficient.
I went for cell group as a formality, I went for services when I could. (That means when I didn’t have to rush work in school or prepare for hall events). The things of God became items on my to-do list. My heart was hardened, and there was such a spiritual apathy. I didn’t love Him, I loved myself. And I’d lost the fear of the Lord. I didn’t revere His presence, the knowledge of Him as the Creator of the Universe fell by the wayside. I got to a point where I lost my convictions. I rationalised my sin. I allowed the standards I once lived by to erode away.
So let us pray for this generation – against the love for self. We need to be broken before Him and die to ourselves daily. There’s a warning against spiritual apathy in Revelations 3:15-16. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one of the other! So because you are lukewarm – neither hot nor cold – I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
I am thankful that He rescued me, forgave me and loved me despite me rejecting Him, and He is still restoring me.
Secondly, let’s pray for the fear of the Lord. As a Father, he disciplines us, and guides us. And we need to obey His word in action, not just by knowing what it says. In Psalm 128 it says, Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to Him. You will eat the fruit of your labour, blessings and prosperity WILL be yours. If you have lowered the standards you once lived by and rationalised sin instead of hating it, and you indulge in it despite KNOWING what His word says about that sin, let us repent before Him. So that we can be cleansed and that our hearts will be pure sacrifices unto Him.

Hey all, a little something that God placed in my heart for this season, especially during these 21 days of prayer. Cheers.
What is it? It is not about earning millions, worldwide fame or getting what we could ever dream of. From the song ‘Completely’ of a contemporary Christian singer Ana Laura, it simply states, “The secret of life is letting go”.
Wow…The secret of life is letting go or surrendering – choosing to let God have control. How true these words are, when it comes to depending on God.
When we choose to surrender the things dear to our heart, we are relieved of our cares and burdens. Though situations and problems still surround us, we truly understand these words - “with Christ in the vessel, we can smile at the storm”. (:
Depending on God does not mean our problems disappear with a snap of the finger, or that it no longer weighs heavy on the heart because it’s now “none of my business”.
It is relying on God to give you the strength to overcome, the wisdom to guide your every decision, the hope that “in all things, God works for the good for those who love Him” (Romans 8:28).
Maybe… we fear letting go. Though we don’t mean it, we unknowingly live as though we cannot trust God. The realization of this does not just break our hearts, but His too.
Dependence in a person is built when we know how they are like. As we know God through His word and spending time with Him, our hearts will come to know that we can rely on Him for our best, because He loves us so much.
What a comfort it is, that “His ways are higher than our ways; and His thoughts than our thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9). God knows what’s best. (:

What areas of your life do you need to depend on God for?
What steps can you take to depend on God this day?
Ever seen one of those dogs bite into a toy-bone and refuse to let go?
“those who trust in the LORD are like Mt Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.” - Psam 125v1
cannot move. cannot shake off. cannot tear away.
i am talking Dependence on God! we may sometimes dabble with other interests; at times flit towards glitter, bling and bright promises and enticements…but No One and Nothing comes close to dead centre: GOD. He is Definer, Director, Destiny.
or as we say in RL: we depend him for our being and doing!
